Towards a complete digitalization of dental practices?
It’s no longer a secret. For the past few years and for most of us, digital technology has become an important part of our professional activities. Some of us are becoming adept at it and others less so. But how do we position ourselves in front of this change of habit?
A few years ago, digital technology was mostly used to “help out” when we couldn’t get to work during the health crisis. But since then, trends have changed. Exceptions have become new work habits. If we use them so much today, it’s because somewhere along the line we all benefit from them.
Indeed, the digitalization of dental offices has many advantages:
- Time saving, faster exchanges
- Simplification of document storage
- Simplified communication
- Improvement of the organization
- Increase in the number of targets through social networks
- Appointment booking in a few clicks
The digitalization of practices is not completely new. It also concerns the progress made since a few years, mainly in terms of technology. Indeed, we find new inventions always more efficient, in several fields: lasers, radiology, software, mobile applications, teleconsultation, appointment booking platforms…
On the other hand, we cannot talk about digitalization without talking about its limits. Like everything else, digital technology brings with its added value certain risks that were not necessarily present before.
This concerns for example :
- The security and the leakage of data
- Lack of seriousness among some patients (more freedom through platforms)
- Difficulty in learning certain software/applications
- Human relations put aside
- New organization to adopt
Therefore, everyone can manage their work as they wish. But it is important to know that integrating these new working methods in your office implies to review the whole organization and to put the whole team in agreement. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to do without these new technologies, because it represents a significant gain in time and productivity.
